Rocklin Area Information
Although officially only 117 years old, Rocklin really came into being 150 years ago when Joel Parker Whitney established Spring Valley Ranch. Today, it’s considered to be the first developed property in Rocklin with it 30,000 acres being the site of granite buildings, stables and housing for 200 ranch hands.
Rocklin’s original claim to fame comes from its mining of granite. At one time there were 22 quarries and in one year alone, nearly 2,000 train car loads were sent to various destinations. Today, the demand for Rocklin granite is as popular as ever, being used for everything from kitchen counter tops to monuments for all occasions. With a population of over 54,000 Rocklin is a ‘just right’ size residential community bordering Roseville, Loomis and Lincoln. Close to Sacramento, you can enjoy the feel of a small town, yet head to Sacramento for a night out on the town in the big city.
